WAIPA RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE -s MEETS. CONDUCT OF PLAYERS Mr G. W. Mairs presided at the weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening, and there was a good attendance of delegates. The chairman reported that a working party had assisted the Te Mawhai Club to' prepare that club's ground near the public hall, last Wednesday. He also reported that a conference between the Union and the club officials was held, over several matters of concern to both bodies, and the explanation of the Union's attitude was accepted. The meeting was entirely satisfactory.—Received. Mr A. J. Shepherd reported that

the Peace Cup eliminatitW game at Cambridge last Saturday-had resulted in a draw. He added that Cambridge Union had informally yffered to visit Te Awamutu for a rie-play on Wednesday, August 3rd.—lt was decided to accept the offer, the game to commence at 2.30 p.m. Mr G. Pryce (Scoutmaster) and W. Glasgow (assistant Scoutmaster) attended in connection with the service rendered by Scouts as first-aid ofiV cers. Mr Mairs cordially welcomed the deputation, and explained that the Union, and all football supporters, were deeply appreciative of the "efforts of the Boy Scouts in this connection. —Mr Pryce detailed the difficulties,

| and assured the meeting that a better arrangement of duties had been secured, as a senior boy would be assisted by a junior.—Mr Glasgow mentioned that the boys felt that their efforts had not been exactly appreciated in the past, and he asked that referees give the boys a lead in the matter of locating and treating the injury.—The meeting recorded a vote of sincere thanks for past help, and for the new arrangements, and the delegation was assured of hearty cooperation at all times. The referee in the Ohaupo v. Te Mawhai third-grade game last Saturday reported having ordered one player off the field for kicking an opponent. The lad in question attended and admitted having kicked at the oppenent, but he contended it was all in goodnatured fun. He had not intended

to hurt the other player.—The explanation was accepted. Athletic Club, Te Kuiti, forwarded clearance for W. Meredith.-—Accepted, and Meredith was allotted to Kihikihi Club.

The secretary, Cambridge Union,, advised that his Union does not fix the date for playing Boyce Cup challenges. The trophy has been won by MorrinsviHe, and JVlatamata, Waipa, and Taupiri Unions have challenged. He presumed MorrinsviHe would play Matamata, and Waipa play the winners, Taupiri's challenge following. The secretary of the primary schools' tourney wrote thanking theUnion for assistance rendered in connection with the tournament last Saturday. The clerk, Te Awamutu Domain. Board, wrote thanking the Union for its contribution of £2 10s toward the cost of the new dressing shed at Albert Park. The Waikato Union's secretary notified/ that the parent body had ruled that there must be no replacements during play. The manager of the Waipa senior B team last Saturday reported that C. Pollard, J. Turney and N. Jackson had arrived on the ground late. Pollard attended, and statecTthat he was not late for play. After consideration it was decided that he be reprimanded severely, but "that no suspension be enforced. Re Jackson, it was explained that he had arrived in town late, being inadvertently delayed en route. Turney. did not appear. Both players were suspended until such time as they appear before the management committee or the emergency committee to explain their conduct.

The rules for the conduct of the Silvester Cup were presented, and before adoption they will be submitted to th& donor of the trophy for his comment or approval. W. Matekino and G. Kopa were allotted to Kihikihi Club.

It was decided to play the final for the Teddy Shield at Te Awamutu on August 13th, and to notify Otorohanga School accordingly.

Advice was received that the Ham-

ilton fourth-grade rep. team will probably visit Te Awamutu on Saturday next.

Confirmation of a challenge by Wa'ipa third-grade reps, for the Cucksey Cup controlled by Matamata Union, was deferred for a week. The matter of admission for the King Country v. Wa : kato representative game to be played at Te Awamutu on September 14th, was left to the secretary.
