NEW ZEALAND WEEK
ADVERTISING MEAT AT HOME. In furtherance of its advertising programme at Home, the Meat Board has for some time past been utilising the various exhibitions which are held throughout England to supplement the work of its travelling representative and make further contact with the "retail trade and push the sale of - New Zealand meat. As a further method of publicity, the Board decided to make a drive in some of the larger industrial towns. The other New Zealand Produce Boards and the Publicity Department of the New "•Zealand Government co-operated with the Meat Board as they have done in the past in various exhibitions. Leeds • was-selected as a good town for this "■■ experiment, as it has a population of i close on 500,00 Q, and a New Zealand Produce Week was held there, comt- , mencing on 25th April. ;, The effort was a unqualified success}; and the Board is more than /satisfied with the results obtained. >';.'" The Board circularised every but'.cher: in the Leeds area totalling close on 500—asking them to make special window displays and gener- - ally,: advertise New Zealand meat. I '-The.' High; Commissioner for New Zealand visited Leeds, and was entertained by the Leeds Luncheon Club, -and as a result of his speech good ? publicity was obtained. The Leeds M, newspapers published special New (./Zealand supplements in which the ~ •various Boards /advertised, and many . of the retailers of New Zealand pro- • ""duce also joined in advertising in the ,; ;.«upp]jements. The Board also utilised .the, poster hoardings, and exhibited !; city; off:Leeds drawing attention to '■£,-s>&& Zealand Week and New Zealand •^ : :; sunshine products. Lectures lon New '-) were given, in which the meat '?■% ; and•i'dairy films were exhibited. The Wk lectures ; were very, well attended.
