GLORIOUS BLOOMS

V PUKEATUA FLOWER SHOW. A SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION. The splendid display of blooms of chrysanthemums, dahlias, and other cut flowers seen in the Pukeatua Hall on Wednesday at the autumn flower show There reflected much credit on the of the amateur gardeners of th#*£istrict. Tables were erected in the hall, which was taxed to its utmost capacity to hold all the exhibits. Mir M. H. Williams, of Te Awamutu, carried out the duties of judge, and the Society is greatly indebted to Messrs Williams and H. C. Rainey for their special displays (for exhibition only of beautiful chrysanthemums. In addition to the flowers there were sections for vegetables, home industries, needlework, art, etc. In the decorative section there was a record number lof entries, and the judge (Mrs C. G. Downes) awarded the prizes to the satisfaction of all. Mrs Downes and Mrs A. G. Wbatherell judged the homle industries, preserves, and needlework. These sections, of course, attracted much interest, and the awards were well distributed. The children’s section was a very creditable display, there being a large number of entries, all of a high standard. The splendid organisation of the show was due to the work of the president (Mrs L. Crowley), the secretary (Mrs Rhodes), and the treasurer (Mrs F. Solomon), who, with their indefatigable committee and able stewards, did their utmost to make the function the success it pi*oved. The show was opened at 2 p.m., and again in the evening unifil 9.30 o’clock, wren the tables were cleared and the young people enjoyed a few hours’ dancing. During the evening the president thanked the exhibitors for their efforts, and paid great tribute to the work of Mr Rhodes, the secretary, and thle committee.
