HIKERS RAIDED

ASKED TO SHOW MARRIAGE LINES. A “ vigilance patrol ” of sixteen gendarmes has raided camps of weekend hikers on the banks of the Sazava and Berounka Rivers, near Prague, and demanded the production of marriage certificates. More than 200 charges have been laid by this patrol following the raids, and the Czecho-Slovakian Minister of the Interior has now issued a decree forbidding hikers of both sexes to camp together in the open. This has caused great indignation, and a mass demonstration to uphold the rights of hikers is to be held in a few days’ time. About 150,000 open-air enthusiasts will take part.
