UP FROM THE SEA

AEROPLANE SPAR ON MANAfWATU BEACH. (Bv Telegraph. Press Association.) FOXTON, This Day. A strut of Oregon pine, obviously from an aeroplane, was washed up at Foxton beach. The spar is 10 feet 8 inches long, with a tapered end 3 inches wide on the one side, and tapering to 31 inches on the other, and 12 inches thick. Traces of white paint appear on the upper and lower edges, and minute particles of fabric are adhering under brass tacks. Both sides are hollowed out for lightness. The spar has evidently been in the sea for a considerable time, as mussels are attached.

The set of the currents from the Tasman Sea strike thei>each, and the finding of the spar is considered likely to have connection wp4~--the loss of the Hood-Moncrieff aeroplane, Aotearoa.
