WAIPA RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Mr G. W. Mairs presided at the weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening. Accounts totalling £3 16s 6d were passed for payment. The secretary reported that the spectators who had obtained illegal entry to Albert Park on two recent charge days had since paid up, and requested that no further action be taken.—Ogreed to. As a third-grade player who had been notified to attend the meeting had failed to do so, it was decided that he be suspended during the pleasure of the Union. Puketotara Club was reported still in default of affiliation fees, and consequently that club is automatically suspended from competition. Plamilton Union offered to play Waipa in the Finaly Cup game for next Saturday at Te Awamutu, instead of at Hamilton, as originally drawn.—-The secretary’s action in accepting the offer was approved. A claim was lodged on behalf of a Kihikihi player injured recently. The secretary reported that a conference between the Otorohanga and Waipa Union delegates had been held at Te Awamutu over the disputed boundaries, and he reported the agreement arrived at. The report would have to be submitted to the parent bodies for confirmation.—Agreed to. It was decided to invite the Cambridge Union to send its thirdgrade rep. team to Te Awamutu on Saturday next if possible, failing this, that the junior rep. selector be asked to arrange for an A and B game, as a curtain-raiser to the Finlay Cup match.

The secretary reported having attended the Waikato Union meeting, when Kaipaki Club wrote asking that the whole question of north-eastern boundaries be re-opened, and complaining of unfair treatment at the hands of Waipa sub-union. Waikato Union had referred the letter to Waipa for a report.—The letter was referred to Messrs Shepherd and Haselden to reply to. It was decided to suspend all club fixtures on Saturday next, when the third game in the Finlay Cup series will be played at Albert Park, between Waipa and Hamilton senior representatives. The secretary reported that Mr Speight, of the Hamilton Union, had recommended that Waipa do not enentertain the visiting players to tea after next Saturday’s game. His attitude was in consideration of. the financial position of the Union.—The recommendation was agreed to. Mr R. Callis was appointed manager of the Waipa rep. team, Mr G. Jeffs was deputed to meet the visitors, and Mr Reynolds undertook to have the ground marked out for the game. Mr Haselden, manager of the Waipa Rep. team at Taupiri last Saturday, reported that Waipa had won by 21 points to six after a most interesting game. The conduct of the players was all that could be desired. They had been the guests of the Taupiri Union afterwards. —Appreciation to be expressed to Taupiri for the entertainment. Mr Callis repoi-ted that the Waikato Referees’ Association would be meeting at Te Awamutu next Friday evening, and he was authorised to entertain the visitors to supper. It was decided that the gatekeepers are in order in refusing free admission on charge days to certain youths who claim privileges. In acknowledging the union’s thanks for the use of a set of jerseys for the third-grade rep. team recently, _ the superintendent of Waikeria Institute wrote: “ May I point out that we appreciate the assistance and courtesies extended by your union in regard to our Rugby football, and are always willing to co-operate to the fullest possible extent in the promotion of the union’s activities.” Received with keen appreciation.
