STILL UNCONVINCED
MILLIONAIRE BELIEVES EARTH IS FLAT. Mr "Wilbur Glenn Voliva returned to the United' States recently after a tour round the world which has left him more convinced than ever that the earth is as flat as his palm. All the members of the Royal Geographical Society, rolling their globes and unrolling their maps, will not persuade Mr Voliva to budge an inch (remarks the New York correspondent : of the News-Chronicle). | Millionaire manufacturer of sweets and head of the Christian Catholic Church of Zion City, Illinois, Mr Voliva is not to be bamboozled by scientists. "I went to see for myself," he told me, "and I found the world ,to be just as flat as the plate you eat your pie from. What more proof does any man want ? No man can bludgeon my Godfgiven senses into believing that this world is globular. ■ Why, the water would all slip off if it were."
