TOUR OF THE DISTRICT
VISIT OF DIRECTOR OF EDU-
CATION.
MR STRONG VERY MUCH IM-
PRESSED.
During the visit to Te Awamutu this week of Mr T. B. Strong, Director of Education, to confer with the district school committee members on various matters pertaining to the scheme of consolidation, he was motored round the district, visiting "as many of the schools as time permitted send gaining an idea of the development! of the neighbourhood. Mr Strong remarked afterwards that he had been very much impressed with the way each part of the district had developed. He had been, charmed with the beautiful and evidently productive farm lands and their prettily-located homesteads, the roads all radiating from Te Awamutu, the wel],-kept school buildings and grounds wherever he had visited, and the keen interest displayed in school affairs and better educational facilities.
Mr Strong and his party were motored on Friday morning on practically a fifty miles trip from Te Awamutu to Pokuru, Te Kawa West, Te Kawa, Tokanui Cross-roads, Ngahape, Kihikihi, Hairini, Mangapiko, and back to Te Awamutu. He regretted that engagements at Otorohanga during the afternoon prevented his visiting Te Mawhai, Pirongia, Te Rore, Paterangi, and Te Rahu schools, but it might be that he would be able to visit them on his next trip to Waikato.
