EFFORTS FOR REDUCTION.

INTERESTED PARTIES CONFER. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Considerable pressure is being brought to bear upon the Government for bringing about a revision in interest rates in order to encourage the freer use of money and to assist production industry. Representatives of financial interests have already conferred with the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon G. W. Forbes, with a view of securing a lead from the Government, the opinion being held that a move by the State is the first essential toward the desired end. j^_Mr Forbes said this evSnfhg the question was under consideration by the Government, but he was not in a position to make a definite announcement.

A further conference with all financial interests is expected to be held shortly, but Mr Forbes was reticent as to the fixture.
