At the Auckland Racing Club’s Great Northern meeting, which opened yesterday at Ellerslie, the gelckTe Homai, trained by Mr A. Cook, at Te Awamutu, won the Hunt Clu 1 ' Hurdles in good style. About two years ago the _ Main Highways Board and the Railways Department entered into an arrangement under which each party agreed to contribute 50 per cent of the cost of improvements to view at railway level crossings and a number of crossings have been improved under this arrangement.
