CAR GOES OVER BANK

FALL OF ABOUT 60 FEET. (Bv Telegraph. Press Association.) OPOTIKI, Monday. A taxi owned and driven by Mr J. H. Hunt, of Opotiki, was being driven toward Motu yesterday when it fell about 60ft over a bank on the Meremere Hill and was smashed to pieces. Mr Hunt had a marvellous escape from serious injury. Mr Hunt had stopped on a corner, and seeing another car approaching, backed to make more room. After the other car had passed Mr Hunt attempted to start, when the edge < the bank gave way. The car turned over once and then struck a tree. • Mr Hunt received only one slig J cut from broken glass. The car was insured.
