ILLEGAL GAME

A SHOWMAN FINED £5. HAMILTON, Monday. * An admission that he had played a dart game at the Waikato Winter Show as a means of gaming was made by Thomas Albert Durran, aged 62, a showman, before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S. M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court to-day. Sergeant Harley said accused was found at the show on Saturday evening conducting a dart game known as “ under sevens.” Accused’s method was to accept money from a number of patrons and allow one of them to throw the darts. A game of chance was thus constituted. Accused had £37 10s in his possession when arrested. He had been previously convicted. A fine of £5 was imposed.
