VOGUE OF MOMENT
RUTH CHATTERTON'S GOWNS. Pink constituted the popular shade for summer, and now fashion rumour has it that peach will be the piece de resistance of the autumn mode. Ruth Chatterton for her role in Paramount's production "The Better Wife, selects peach satin for a dress-of-the-moment. .The lines are classically designed, with a skirt that shirrs into fuilness at the natural waistline and falls to the floor in soft folds. This new type of frock is entirely unadorned. The Russian blouse with its lull sleeves and high neck line creates the upper portion of the season's cleverest pajamas. For her role, Ruth Chatterton displays lounging pajamas of deep green velvet that adhere to the Russian style. The waist of the overblouse is circled with a wide girdle of green satin that forms graceful ties at the side. An autumn suggestion is offered by Ruth in the guise of a street outfit of brown and white. This is a likely mode for the early days, since Miss Chatterton's fashion innovation requires brown with touches of white. The frock in question is created in brown wool crepe with bands of white crepe as effective trimming. A brown and white felt hat and sables complete the costume. Blouses with wide pleated collars, blouses with smocked and embroidered sleeves, blouses of rich brocades and lace will feature the daytime fall mode. Ruth wears one of the new blouses in pink satin, displaying a wide pleated bertha, smocked full sleeves and tiny glass buttons. Something new for the fur fanciers is the vogue initiated by Travis Banton, creator of Paramount fashions, of gray ermine to harmonise with the popular shade of the season. Ruth dons this new mode with an ensemble comprising grey crepe romain frock and coat of grey Leda cloth collared and cuffed with grey ermine. The black lace dinner frock has lost none of its chic with the passing of the seasons. Ruth selects this material for a Directoire gown of unusual lines. From the high waistline the skirt falls into a series of lace flounces that blend into one another so that an almost straight line is achieved.
