CORRIEDALE SHEEP
IN FAVOUR AT HOME. The weekly supplement of the London Times mentions the experiments which have already been undertaken in Scotland in respect to Corriedale sheep in the following paragraph which appeared early this year:— “'Mr .James Piper breeds a flock of Corriedale sheep at the Grange, Burntisland, Fife. It is the only flock of its kind in Great Brita.'n. Mr Piper has been experimenting with the Corriedale, and by making certain crosses with native breeds has increased the average weight of fleece by lilb up to 4£lb of wool. Mr Piper has told a Times correspondent that for many parts of the country the Corriedale makes an ideal dual purpose breed, and one that stands up bravely to the variable climate of Great Britain. He did not mention the home breeds that have been crossed with his pure Corriedales, but stated that in every case where the crosses had been tried the results were satisfactory.” Mr Piper secured his foundation sheep from the Corriedale stud of Mr
J. A. Johnstone, of Bushey Park, Palmerston.
