" It makes no difference whether it is printed on the bill-head or not, a trader cannot collect interest on an overdue account unless an agreement to that effect has been made by the trader and his client," said Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Asrburton Magistrate's Court the other afternoon. The remark arose out of an item in a claim for money. The magistrate said that traders could " try that on " out of court, but in court they would have to prove that an agreement for payment of interest had been arrived at before they could succeed in their claims.
