The local Chamber of Commerce will meet this evening. Sir Frederic Lang (a former M.H.R. for Waipa), whose seven years term of office in the Legislative Council expired on 22nd February, has received no notification of the Government's intentions concerning himself. "I feel perfectly certain that I shall not be re-appointed," said Sir Frederic on Thursday. /"If a member whose term is expired is to be reappointed the practice is to write him a letter, stating that, if he is so inclined, the appointment will be renewed. On the other hand, if a member is to be dropped when his term is up, the usual practice is to take no further notice. As I have received no communication from the Government I assume that I am not to be re-appointed:"
