FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE
SEQUEL TO DRINKING BOUT. WELLINGTON, Friday. Described as a golf professional, G. W. Ritchie pleaded guilty in the Po ice Court to-day to obtaining money and goods by false pretences. It was stated that Ritchie had been following his occupation at Hawera, but had been unemployed for six or seven months. He knew he had no money in the bank, but issued a num-. ber of cheques mainly to hotelkeepers. The excuse was made that he had been on a drinking bout. For Ritchie it was urged that he would lose his profession, and it would be necessary for him to fo low some other occupation. Prisoner was admitted to probation for two years, and ordered to .make restitution-
