STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER. WELLINGTON. Friday. The term of the appointment of Sir William Carncross, the Speaker of the Legislative Council, expires on March 17. The Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes), asked whether re-ap,-uointments were to be made where thev fell due this year, replied that no appointments were being made to the Upper House for the present, with the exception of Sir William Carncross, its Speaker.
