WAIKATO PRESBYTERY

MONTHLY MEETING. NEW MODERATOR NOMINATED. The monthly meeting of the Waikato Presbytery was held last Tuesday at Claude ands. The moderator, Rev.' E. R. E.. Ross, M.A., presided over a good attendance. Rev. A. C. Hampton (Matamata; and Rev. J. Haslop (Hamilton East) had been nominated at a previous meeting for the moderatorship for the next six months; however, MiHampton having withdrawn his name from nomination, it was agreed that Mr Haslop be nominated for the position.

It was resolved that a ■ recommendation be forwarded to the Home Mission Committee asking that the Rev. D. C. Stewart, of ■ Paterangi, be recommended for re-appointment for a further year. The superintendent of the Home Mission Committee advised that it was proposed to make grants in aid of the various parishes and homo mission stations, including Otorohanga £SO and Paterangi £SO. Suggested reductions included Kihikihi £4O (formerly £45). The letter was received. Rev. J. Haslop and Rev. Hay reported that both the service in the church and the social function connected with the induction of the Rev. A- C. Whitelaw, 8.A., at Te Awamutu, had been singularly successful gatherings, auguring exceedingly well for the future pastorate of Mr Whitelaw. Rev. J. H. Starnes submitted a programme for the 1931 visitation of parishes under the triennial system. With the added proviso that conveners of visitation committees have the power to add to the personnel of the commissions, . the programme was adopted. It was decided to defer until next meeting the personnel of the Presbytery's standing committees to permit of the reception of elders' commissions. It was reported that the Young Women's "Bible camp was to be held at Waihi instead of Te Aroha, and that the Young Men's camp would be hed at Matamata.
