TRANSFER OF WORKERS

MEN ON RAILWAY LINES. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The position of men on the abandoned East Coast railway construction works was brought before the notice of the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, to-day, by a deputation from the Alliance of Labour. The president of the Mr A. Cook, complained of the position of married women, whose husbands had been transferred elsewhere. Single men in camps had become a burden on the charity of the community. Mr Forbes said arrangements were being made in regard to married men, their wives and families. As for the single men, he indicated that they should have gone away three months ago, when work was stopped, and he advised them now to go to places where the Unemployment Act was being administered and work could be found for them.
