A TESTED RECIPE FOR WHOLEMEAL DATE CAKE. 1 cup chopped dates, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 cup boiling water, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 2 cups Bisley’s Wholemeal, 1 teaspoon baking powder, a little salt, l cup chopped nuts, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Sprinkle soda over chopped dates; add boiling water, butter, and sugar. Beat well, add beaten egg and flour, baking powder and salt sifted together. Add nuts and vanilla.
