TE RORE NOTES
* (Own Correspondent.)
The country is looking splendid, and feed is plentiful, with quite a new growth, which speaks well for the new season. In some instances settlers have a pit of ensilage not yet opened, and many will be unable to clear the pits for this season’s cut of grass. Te Rore Croquet Club had a euchre evening and dance on Friday night. Miss M. Anderson won the ladies’ prize, and the gentlemen’s prize went to Mr K. James. Mrs Butterworth won the competition prize. Mr F. B. Stevens, of the Workers’ Educational Institute, is giving a series of lectures on various authors, and the residents take part in reading some of their plays. Shaw’s and Barrie’s plays have been dealt with so far, and thanks are due to Mr Stevens for two very interesting evenings.
