MILFORD SOUND DISTRICT

TWO LAKES DISCOVERED.

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday.

A message from Okuru, 187 miles south of Hokitika, says Mr Eric James and his party reached there today, en route for Wanaka, after nine weeks spent in exploration to the north of Milford Sound.

A hitherto unexplored valley was followed to its source, and two lakes were discovered, one having a subterranean outlet. Numerous photographs and mineral specimens were obtained. The minerals will be analysed.
