Representative.) On the last five consecutive nights, from 7 to 14 degrees of frost have been recorded at Otorohanga, an unusual extension of frosty conditions for this district. The supervisor for the Waikato and Maniapoto Maori Land Board, Mr G. L. Miller, is' at present on a visit of inspection in connection with the native lands of the Northern King Country. The induction of the Rev. T. H. Burton, M.A., takes place in the Presbyterian Church, Otorohanga, this evening, when the Rev. W. Butterworth, interim moderator, Te Awamutu, will install the new clergyman. He will be assisted by the Rev. D. H. Hay (Frankton), Rev. E. R. Ross (Te Kuiti), and the Rev. W. Hughes (Te Aroha). An apparently "locoed" cow which was wandering on the Otewa Road last Saturday, attacked a passing car which contained Mr and Mrs P. A. Mussen, settlers of the district. The infuriated animal charged the car viciously, and damaged it so severely that the occupants had to procure another car in which to reach Otorohanga. The Governor-General has issued a warrant increasing the number of commissioners of the Otorohanga Town Board from five to seven, as from the general elections which will be held next month. "* There was a moderate yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs at yesterday's sale at Otorohanga. A heavy yarding of store and weaner pigs met with * brisk competition, and the higher prices of recent sales were well maintained. Ox and cow beef met with ~ keen competition, and sold readily at further increased values. Store cattle sold at Jlate quotations. Sheep were in slow demand and sold at prices that left no profit for the vendors. Dairy heifers were required and sold at advanced rates from last sale. Sound dairy cows also found a ready market, but those that could not be guaranteed were picked up by graziers at speculative prices. The following Otorohanga Maori rep. team will play Morrinsville Maoris on Saturday at Marrinsville: Ormsby, Box, Turner, Te Whare (2), Wallace (3), G. Warren, J. Davis, Tikina, Tai, Rangi, Hamana. Emergencies: Awanui, Stafford, T. Warren and T. Davis. The following is the Otorohanga team to play against the Kawhia team that visits here on Saturday: A. Ormsby, J. M, Quin, T. Hughes, Sweetman, H. Hughes, Dockery, S. Smith, G. Bremner, T. McCready, S. Stuart, Carter, B. Love, C. Brown, K. Browne, J. Murray. Emergencies: T. >Walls and M. Harris. The Main Highways Board have advised the Otorohanga Town Board -that they are unable to accede to the Board's request for a £3 to £l. subsidy, nor to take over Maniapoto Street on payment of £45 a mile for its annual upkeep. The Highways Board also complained of the state of repair of this part of the main highway, which is in the Town Board area. At the Town Board meeting on Monday night it was decided to reply that the street in question was kept in as good repair as the funds of the town would permit. The steamer Henzada, from New York, has brought to Auckland two yearling bulls to the order of Mr P. O. R. Phillips, of the Meadowland Jersey stud, Otorohanga. These animals will be mated, after they are released from quarantine, with the daughters of Combination's Tidy Prince and Oswald's Victor, now in the Meadowland herd, and with the heifers recently purchased from Taranaki studmasters, most of which are by imported bulls. One of the imported bulls, Beauty's Volunteer, is by You'll Do's Volunteer, sire of the bull Floral Dance You'll Do. You'll Do's Volunteer was three times first at the Royal Show in Jersey, and has 56 tested daughters up to 780 lbs of fat.
