DISQUALIFIED MOTORIST
NO POWER TO CANCEL ORDER,
(By Telegraph. Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, Monday.
Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., this morning at the Onehunga Magistrate's Court, declined to cancel an order of disqualification imposed on a motor driver.
At the last sitting of the Court at Onehunga a fortnight ago, H. Gage applied to have the period of concellation of his driver's license reduced. The ground of the application was that he could not conveniently carry on his calling without the use of his car, as he lived some distance from other means of transport.
Sergeant D. J. O'Neill, who opposed the application, said he did so as the Motor Vehicles Act, 1924, did not give a magistrate any power to cancel disqualifications. This morning Mr Levien said he was afraid he could not do anything in the matter, and the order of disqualification would have to stand.
