OTOROHANGA COUNTY

CONTESTS FOR THREE RIDINGS. Whereas representation for only one riding of Wlaipa county is. contested at the triennial election next week, the Otorohanga county rateers have three contests. When nominations closed on Friday last it was found that Mr F. Potts, of Ngutunui, was re-elected unopposed for Te Rau-a-Moa riding, and Mr W. J. Bowyer had no opposition in the Honikiwi ridmMessrs W. B .Bluck, P. D. Crowley, and H. A. Lurman have been nominated for the two vacancies for the Mangaorongo riding. . Two candidates, Messrs W. Irvine and Vincent W. Simms, are contesting the Waipa riding seat, while for the two seats for Wharepapa riding Messrs A. W. Gallagher (Ngahape) <W. G. Kay (Korakonui), and W. Thomson '(Wharepuhunga) have been nominated. All three gentlemen are well-known settlers, and each should poll well. Mr Thomson is the retiring member, having sat with his * namesake (Mr W. L. Thomson, Ngahape), who is not seeking re-elec-

tiOn. ! A The poll takes place on Wednesday of next week, and booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for recording votes.
