NATIONALISATION

SYSTEM AVOIDS WASTE.

“It is in every way desirable that the industry should be based on a stable economic basis for the sake of those who have invested their capital therein, for those employed in the industry and for those using the products of the industry. A considerable amount of waste goes on in the world of industry. You do not bring the raw material from Canada to England when a refining plant cojuld be installed in Canada. You do not supply to England goods manufactured in Canada when they could be manufactured more easily here. The same problem applies to marketing, propaganda, research, and in Very many ways, difficult to define, in which the co-operation of all those interested in the development of industries working together is infinitely more effective. Brains jointly used in the

development of industry, improved processes, use of material, frank exchange of information, will lead very much quicker to progress.” Lord Melchett.
