NGARUAWAHIA REGATTA

WAR CANOE FROM WANGANUI. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) HAMILTON, Friday. Interest will be lent to the canoe races at the forthcoming regatta at Ngaruawahia by the presence of two vessels from Wanganui. One of these is capable of holding between 40 and 50 warriors, and is one of the original war craft. It is longer than any canoe entered by the Waikato natives, and will be manned by Maoris in full war-time dress. This is stated to be the first time that the Wanganui natives have entered these canoes at Ngaruawahia. The Governor General, Sir Charles Fergusson, has announced his intention of being present at the regatta if he can make the necessary arrangements.
