. W FIFTEEN UNCERTAIN SEATS. SOME VERY CLOSE CONTESTS. The political position created by the general election will not be finally clarified until next week, when the absentee votes are counted, as in fifteen eleeicirates'th© polling is so close that the results may be affected. At present the ]ead in these contests is held by the parties as follows: — Reform 7 United 6 Labour 1 Country Party 1 . Taking these seats into account—crediting the party in the lead as holding them.—the position of the parties is.— Reform 29 United 26 Labour 19 Country 1 Independent 5 Total 80 THE DOUBTFUL SEATS. I In the list of doubtful seats will now be found Wellington North, a mistake having been made in the original count. The rectification of this gives Sir John Luke (Reform) a lead of 8 votes from the Labour candidate ' (Mr C. H. Chapman), with 1138 votes to come.
