THE CHILDREN'S DANCE

TO ASSIST SCHOOL FUNDS. VERY WELL PATRONISED. To say that' the attendance at the children's plain and fancy dress dance at the Town Hall last evening exceeded all expectations is to put it mildly. The hall was soon crowded with scores of merry youngsters, many wearing fancy costumes, and they romped and danced for a couple of hours to their hearts' content. Tha arrangements made by the sub-com-mittee in charge (Mrs W. H. Wood and Messrs H. E. Wilson and A. H. Roberts) were very complete and they had the assistance of several willing helpers, while the preparation and dispensing of supper was undertaken by wives of school committeemen. Excellent dance music was provided by Dalton's Orchestra, and extras were contributed by Miss Budd and Messrs E. Holmes and Roy North. A pretty innovation was an old English folk dance by eighteen of the High School girls, instructed by Miss Norman. This item proved so popular that it had to be/ repeated. The grand march by the children in fancy costume gave the large crowd of onlookers a splendid opportunity to see the juveniles at their, best', and though no prizes were awarded it was perhaps just as well as the infinite variety of the costumes and the cut'eness of some of the conceptions would have made a judge's task extremely difficult. The attendance was swelled by the attendance of a narty of Cambridge High School pupils, who thus showed their goodwill to the local school's effort). They were warmly welcomed and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the visit.

Following is an almost complete list of the children wearing fancy costume :
