JERSEY CLUB

MEETING OF MEMBERS. Mr G. S. Clarke, president, occupied the chair at a meeting of the Te Awamutu Jersey Club on Friday evening. The principal items of business were to consider the arrangements for the forthcoming pedigree bull, sale and the matter of a successor to Mr J. G. Wynyard, who expressed a desire to resign the secretaryship. Mr Wynyard made his position clear, pointing out that he could not continue in an honorary capacity. The amount of work had greatly increased, and more particularly in respect to the pedigree bull sale. ■s' After Mr Wynyard had left _ the room, members discussed the position. Mr Clarke pointed out that to adequately recompense Mr Wynyard it would be necessary to double, the subscription. To Mr Ryburn, the president said there were between 60 and 70 members at present. Mr Ryburn suggested increasing the subscription by 2s 6d. This would enable the Club to pay Mr Wynyard £lO per annum,, and he could be relieved of the work associated with the bull sale. He believed Mr Wynyard would carry on the duties on this basis. Mr Parker considered the auctioneering firms would undertake the bull sale catalogue arrangements. Thus the vendors would pav for the catalogue, whereas now the Club itself bears the cost. The chairman said the sale last year cost the club several pounds. Members agreed that Mr Wynyard was an admirable secretary, and it would be a pity to lose his services. Eventually it was decided to ask Mr Wynyard to continue in the position of secretary at a salary of £lO per annum, for this year, and relieve him of .the work connected with the bull sale. The Hamilton manager of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., wrote acknowledging the Club's desire that that firm act in connection with the pedigree bull'sale on October sth the same as last year. Was it desh*ed that the Club should compile the catalogue ? It was unanimously decided to ask the three auctioneering; firms to take full charge of the pediVree bull sale. Intending members will be expected to forward their entries direct to one of the firms.
