lIARROWS Demonstration 1.30 p.m. AT MR ■ TWOS. MARTIN'S THE LATEST AND MOST EFFECTIVE HARROW ON THE MARKET. & SONS, Agents for Messrs Wright, Stephenson, & Co., Ltd. Telephones 26 and 246, ALEXANDRA ST., TE AWAMUTU. What is merchandising? Well, it doesn't make much difference what line of business a man is in. If he has something to sell he has to make it saleable, and then he has to sell it to his customers. He has to follow through till his goods reach and satisfy the ultimate consumer. He has to do this with a minimum of waste. But—how ? Having a saleable article is one thing: selling it is quite another. Right! Assume you have the goods—the class of goods your customers want. You cannot sell if the price is wrong. Overhead of business goes on whether the turnover is large or small. On a small turnover overhead will cripple you unless you charge exorbitant rates. That you cannot do, because customers are protected by competition. How did your competitor get prices so fine? Simply because lie raised and maintained his turnover at a level enabling him to'spread his overhead over £ large volume of sales. You with a small turnover simply cannot compete. Then how did he do it? By judicious advertising —that's a well-known rule of modern busiGoodwill is bound to result from good merchandising and good merchandise. Advertising is good merchandising method. And if you don't advertise in THE WAIPA POST don't advertise.
