KEEN LADIES’ MATCH.

The ’l'e Awamutu Ladies Saturday team met Otorohanga at Albert Park on Saturday last when a very keen game was played, Otorohanga eventually winning by 4 goals to 1. . Te Awamutu attacked from the bully off, but Otorohanga soon had them defending, a hit behind giving relief. Good play by the Te Awamutu backs sent their forwards down the field with a determined attack on the Otorohanga goal, when a really hot shot by L. Chirney found the net. Te Awamutu 1, Otorohanga 0. On resuming Otorohanga again attacked, but the Te Awamutu backs kept them out. Otorohanga were not satisfied and soon after L. Leatham notched a gpa.l for Otorohanga. ' The visitors continued to attack, when Hyde scored from a penalty corner. Te Awamutu now tobk a hand in attacking, but good work by'Otordhanga’s goalie relieved the pressure. Give' and take play. followed for a while when Otorohanga again pressed, a good shot being well stopped by the Te Awamutu goalie, but fast following up saw A. Hyde score off the rebound. Otorohanga 3, Te Awamutu 1. Halftime followed shortly after. On resuming play Te Awamutu attacked but lack of combination allowed Otorohanga to clear. Te Awamutu were now holding their own, the goalie making two good saves. Play continued up and down field for some time, when Otorohanga again pressed and A. Hyde scored her third goal for the afternoon. Otorohanga 4, Te Awamutu 1. Te Awamutu now took a hand in attacking but the Otorohanga backs were equal to the occasion and Te Awamutu were soon hard put defending. Otorohanga were attacking when the final whistle went without further score. Mr A. 'Finch was in charge of the whistle. For the winners, Misses Leatham, Hyde, and McCready and Mrs Miller, were prominent, while for Te Awamutu Misses Chirney, Ball, Wood and Irwin showed best form.

EMPSON CUP COMPETITION. The Waipa Hockey Association’s competition will be continued on Wednesday '(to-morrow) afternoon when two matches will be played. The following teams have been chosen for the game Waratah v. United! in Albert Park:— Waratah. —Douglas, McDonald, Hinton, Baxter, Battson, T. Finch, Wood, McCarthy, Nesd'ale, H. Andrew and Bowler. Emergencies. McGovern, Goodall and Kerr. United. —Stallard, Perrin, A. Finch. Macklow, Harker, Balme, Ashton, Humphrey, R. Andrew, Harford and Irwin. Referee Mr W. Hebden. Paterangi v. Ramblers at Paterangi. Ramblers team will be as follows: Daniells, Linehan, Gibson, Blomfiekl O. Finch, White, Watson, Spiers, Civil, Sinclair and Donaldson.
