. A meeting of' the Queten Carnival execultive comimitltee was held in the (Borough Council Ch'amberls on Thursday evenlirig, the following being pne.serft:—lMessrs A. E. Patterson (chairman) ,"L. B. Alrmsltrong, A. J. Tailby, I. F. MctDOnald '(representing HaiTiniPuahue), arid N. E. Le« (secretary).
Apologies wtere received from Messrs J. 'Sutherland! and W. Cavanagh. "The secrejtiary reported that as the result of the carnival a credit balance of £495 10s lid was available. The action of !the chairman .and secretary in declining an offer from the Pairamount Theatre, Pirongia, to give an open alir picture show in Te Awamutu on a 60-40 percentage basis was approved. . Thla 'secretary was inst.riu|cted to write Messrs C. T. Rickit and Sons expressing the committee's appreciation of ]their action in presenltiing a doll to each of the candidates; and also Mr Rainey for donating fiagte for indicating the poslition of candidates. [Discussion ensued a.s to a suitable date to hold' the coronation cejremony and eventually it was decided that it take place on Thursday, November 4th. A committee consisting olf the four mothers concerned, two other ladies from each committee, Itogetiet with the present executive wais appdinted to. meet on Friday night to arrange details. The representatives of the varioua committees arja compiling a list of prize winners of the various .guessing competitions for publication.
