IMPERIAL FRUIT SUPPLY
"It is surprising to Learn that in J 924 every person in the United Kingdom, on an average, consumed 100 apples 70 oranges and 30 bananas. Of the apples 38 werd supplied by the United States, 25 were grown in the Unlited Kingdom, 19 were Imported from Canada, and eight obtained from Australia and New ealand. Of the 70 oranges 57 were supplied by Spain, seven in Palestine, three by South Africa and one by the United States. Of the bananas 18 came fron! Centra America, seven from the Canary Islands, and five from Jamaica. It Is evident from these figures that (in each case one foreign source of supply had the greatest influance on, th£< 'ciiarket, and the report show s clearly how tlhis affects the position." —The Times Trade and Engineering Supplement," commenting on tine Imperial Economic Committee report.
