COULDN’T GET A LICENSE.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. , “I can drive a Ford, sir, but I can’t get a license,”, said J. P. Mack, a mid-dle-aged man from Darfield, when explaining to the Court this morning why he drove a car without a license. “It’s pretty hard to 'get a license at Darfield. They have there what-they call a ’tin-can’ test. I don’t know whether tyoul’ve heard of it. There is a row 'of kerosene tins, six yards apart. You’ve got to zig-zag in and, out between them and, well, I’m getting a bit old for that sort of thing. If you knock one over you have to start °The Magistrate: I suppose 'tkeie were no cans left when you finished. Mack: I don’t drive at all now, sir. He was fined 20s.
