BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
A MAJORITY IMPROBABIE.
POSITION IN UPPER HOUSE
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday.
What will be the fate of the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill in the Upper Houlse? It is whispered in the lobbies that the Hon. L. M. Isitt, its author, is not sanguine of a majority. One may hazard a guess that the Hons. IHanan and’Witty, who voted aghinst the. Bill in the House of Representatives will' ’not alter their ; views now that they have been appointed to the Council. The Hon. Carrington;* another new . appointee, is a' member of a church that ha-s been consistently opposed to tihie Bill, and Sir Robert ■Stout, whose appointment is imminent, is also opposed to it.
