PNEUMONIC INFLUENZA
FOUR iff ORE CASES Iff PROVINCE. ONE RESULTS FATALLY. ?.; (>By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND; Last Night. Four more cases of pneumonic influenza have heen reported since yestercfey, one at Mount Albert, two in Waikato county, and one in Ohinemuri county. The' latter case resulted fatally. . The departmental returns for the past month ,show that 73 cases of infectious disease from.the central Auckland health district, the more prevalent diseases being diphtheria with 21 cases and, tuberculosis and, scarlet fever, leach with 13 notifications . Fifty-six cases were notified from the South Auckland health district, there being 18 cases of pneumonia, 11 of scarlet fever, and 9 of diphtheria. Twenty-one cases were notified from the North Aulckland health district, diphtheria, with seven cases, being most prevalent.' From the Coromandel-Opotiki health district 30 notifications were-received, 16 of .the cases being diphtheria. -NELSON, Wednesday. • Nelson has not been affeoted by the influenza epidemic, though the usual winter colds are fairly prevalent. The school attendances are normal. MARTON, Wednesday.; j .Influenza in a mild form is seriously reducing tbe attendance at the local schools. A hundred and twenty children are absent from the high school, representing 25 per cent of the total roll number, while adult cases are also numerous.
