THE MANGAPIKO HALL.
Sir, —I would like to ask the Mangapiko Ha'll Committee two questions—first, did they go to Hamilton to purchase crockery? and, second)', did they save mone, compared with the price they would have paid for similar crockery obtainable in Te Awamutu? I want to submit that just as Te Awamutu must look to districts like Mangapiko for its progress as a town, so also does Mangapiko look to Te Awamutu as its commercial and social centre; therefore, as the interests and welfare of town and out-districts are closely inter-woven, is it not bad policy for a public fund, such as is controlled, by the |Hall Committee, :to be spon'r beyond the natural outlet and oentre of the district?, particularly seeing that the Mangapiko people activelycanvassed in Te Awamutu for. funds for the hall? I venture to say that Te Awamutu people will not be encouraged to subscribe to other district funds when they see the money diverted to Hamilton. But, 'let the'Com-, mittee say if they did buy crockery in Hamilton, and,, if 'they can, justify the action by showing that they could buy it there more cheaply.—l am. etc,
'SUBSCRIBER.
