DEATH OF DR. HUNTER

WELL-KNOWN TOWNSMAN PASSES. iWe regret to liave to chronicle the death of Dr. Douglas John Hunter, who for the past two years or so has been resident in Te Awamutu practising his profession of dentistry. Death occurred at Waikato (Hospital yesterday afternoon, the sufferer having been removed there to undergo an operation for an Internal abscess that had been causing him trouble for some time. Deceased became unwell some AVeeks ago and had to temporarily relinquish his business, in order to have complete rest, but in his Aveakened state of health the internal trouble developed, and it was as a last resource that an operation wa.s decided upon after a conference of medical men. Deceased, who was fifty years of age, Avas born at Allahabad, India, and spent most gf his life there. Taking up the profession of dentistry he obtained his degree in America, and came to ,Xew 'Zealand (mainly for health reasons) about five years ago. After a little more than two years in Dunedin he came to Te Atvamutu, and soon his family Joined him. He Avas a man of high ideals, and was widely respected. To his widow and family (two sons and two young daughters) widespread sympathy will b'e extended in the loss of a devoted husband and father. The funeral takes place to-mor-row afternoon, leaving his late residence'in Teasdalie Street for the Te AAvamutu Cemetery at 2 p.m.
