THIEF'S AFTERNOON JOB'.

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) , MARTON, Wednesday.

An audacious robbery occurred yesterday afternon at a dwelling occupied by Mr John McChesney, at Crofton, two mile's from Marton. Neighbours heard loud barking of dogs, but suspected nothing untoward.

The. tenants of the house were absent during the afternoon and when they returned they found the interior in a state of disorder. Every room had been ransacked, clothing and effects were strewn on the floor and a quantity of jewellery and other valuables were collected on a table, but left there, indicating that the thief was disturbed or had sought only money;.a small sum being stolen.
