CAR OVER EMBANKMENT

INJURIES TO OCCUPANTS. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) TE AROUA. Monday. A serious motoring accident occurred near Te Aivna on Saturday evening. A car containing four Waihi residents who were returning from the representative football match between Waihi and Piako at Te Arolia plunged over an embankment and landed in the Mangaiti swamp below, with the wheels in the air. The car was driven by its owner, Mr W. (Peterson, of Wenlock Street, Waihi, and the other occupants were Messrs J. Clark, J. Shawl and L. Thompson. It was very dark and rain was falling when the accident occurred. Three of the occupants were thrown clear of the car, but Mr Clark was pinned beneath it. The hood of the car was smashed in and the glass screen was shattered to fragments.
