DURING} PAST MONTH. FOREMAN IS AND INSPECTOR’S REPORTS. The following reports were presentled by the works foreman (Mr E. Bryant) and the inspector (Mr A. J. Tailby) at yesterday’s meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board: — FOREMAN’S REPORT.

The Government supply of power failed, on the night of 30th May, due to exciter trouble at Hora Hora power station. Between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on iSu,nday next the Government supply will be cut off for alterations to lines. Advantage will be 'taken of this shut-down to do necessary work on the Board’s lines. The Kio Kio extension line has been pegged and a 10-chains-to-the-inch plan made. As soon as the poles are laid out the erection of the' line will be begun. Twenty-eight poles have been carted, fitted, and erected during the month, and are enumerated as follow: Borough, 3 26-foot, 6 30-foot, and 1 35foot; firongia. 1 26-foot and 3 30-foot; Korakonui, 8 26-foot; Te Kawa, 1 26foot; Ohaupo, 1 26-foot; Frontier Road, 2 26-foot; Kihikihi, 1 30-foot; Te Rore, 2 30-foot; total, 16 26-foot, 11 30-foot, and 1 35-foot. Thirty-eight sets of fuse boxes and plugs have been ftttted to the lines throughout the district; 22 sets of high-tension transformer fuses and 12 commercial service low-ten-sion fuses have been removed. A 3phase and neutral low-tension line has been erected from the sub-station along Tawhiao Street as far as Mr Ingham’s property near the racecourse. A single-ph'ase low-tension line been ere'cted from McVerry’s transformer as far as the Kakepuku hall. A 3-phase 'low-tension line has been extended from Brady Street along Jackson Street. Approximately 16 chains of low-tension line at Korakonui and 4 chains at Pukeatua have been re-organised owing to increased load on the mains. Twenty-three chains of 3-phase and neutral lines have been erected on the Mangapiko Road to supply Mr Wilson; when he installs the power in the spring the transformers will require to be increased from 1 k.v.a. to 3 k.v.a. Nine poles which were not in use at Jacobsen’s Road, Kihikihi, 'were dismantled. Two cross-arms have been fitted to allow the railway tablet wires to be fitted on to power pole at the second crossing south of Te Kawa railway station. The position of the transformer on Jacobsen’s Road has been shifted to near 'Croasdale’s property. Three street lights have been replaced in the borough, two at Pirongia, and four at Ohaupo. I call you. attention to the wilful damage to some of the street lamps. A specimen of such damaged lamps has been returned to you. Fifteen service connections were ere'cted, during the month. .Four services have been re-connected, and two were dis-connected. iSeven consumers’ repairs were attended to. Ou.ruwheroiPokuru, Korakonui, Kio Kio, Ngahape, Te Mawhai, Puahue, Orakau Road, and Tiki Farm Road 3300-v. lines have be e n patrolled and necessary repairs made. The Paterangi, Ouruwhero, Te Kawa, Tokanui, and Parawera sub-stations hvae been overhauled and necessary adjustments made. Kaipaki sub-sta-tion will be overhauled as soon as possible. The transport has run approximately 2623 miles during the month. A new tyre has been fitted to No. 2 truck. Three leaves have been fitted to the front spring of No. 3 truck to replace the broken ones. Adjustments have been made to the inspector’s car, and the steering gear, gear box, and bearings of No. 1 truck have s been overhauled Some trees which were causing trouble through being in close proximity to the lines were cut back at Ohaupo Road, Korakonui, Frontier. Road, and Te Mawhai. Some old poles which -were' scattered around Kaipaki have been collected and stacked at a dump. As soon as we can use the Albion lorry on the roads -these will be returned to the yard. Work is being retarded owing to our not being able to use the Albion lorry at this time of the year. If heavy materials were needed in an emergency such as a breakdown the restriction of use of the lorry would seriously hold up the restoration of power. _ The tools and plant are in good condition.
