STANDARD PACKAGES FOR IRISH BUTTER, THE MAYPOLE DAIRY COMPANY. THE SWEDISH RUNE BRAND. Under the powers conferred by the Dairy Produce Act of 1924 the Free 'State Ministry of Lands and Agriculture on 7th November, 1925, issued an ord,er prescribing that in future all butter produced in the Free State and destined for export must be packed in standard containers—casks of 112 lbs, kegs of 56 lbs, or boxea.of 56 lbs, 2'B lbs, and 14 lbs.
The net profits of the Maypole Dairy Company for 1925 amounted to the sum of £527,164, and £137,487 was brought forward. A final dividend of 7£ per cent is proposed on the deferred ordinary shares, making 17J per cent for the year, adding £IO,OOO placed to reserve, £IO,OOO to provident fund, appropriating £7643, for directors’ fees, and Carrying forward £151,800. The Swedish Rune brand for butter is a quality brand applied only to such butters a s have scored satisfactorily in the official grading. An official decree has now been issued to the effect that, as from Ist May next, only Runebranded butters ape allowed to be exported from Sweden’.
