PATERANGI NEWS

(Own Correspondent)

The dance held in the Paterangi Hall on Thursday "night of last Aveek was a great success both financially and socially. No doubt the” beautiful moonlight night Avag responsible for tile large number of visitors present from outside districts. The floor Avas in excellent order, and in conjunction with the music supplied by the Melody Boys’ Orchestra, from Te AAvamutu, left nothing to be desired. The duties of M.’SC. Avere ably carried, out by Messrs R. Foster and G. Find'.i. A bountiful supper supplied by the ladies added greatly to the evening’s enjoyment. The Men’s Social Club met in the old Hall last. Friday evening. There was a good muster of members and games of five hundred, cribbage and ping-pong AA-ere indulged, in. These socials are now held weekly, light refreshments are served, Avhich together with a good fire make the evenings most enjoyable. The Paterangi Bible Class attended in full force at a Presbyterian Church concert held in Ohaupo on Wednesday nierht of last Aveek, in which a number of local members took an active part. I understand the concert Avas in aid of the Ohaupo Presbyterian Church fund.

That the Waikato Winter Show is appreciated by the farmers of Paterangi was evident, hv the nuiujber who visited it this week. - On< Wednesday last th-e whole district appeared to be bhAvp ns everv second or third person one met apparently hailed from here. There are quite 'a number of exhibitors and prize winners from this district. The genera] opinion is that the Show 'this year will hold its own with any previous effort, and despite the fact tba* ith-e nast season has not been a particularly good one for the farming <■ -miminitv according to all authorities tihe root exhibit thi s year excels anything of the kind that has been previously shown.
