Following complaints about alleged kI riinging-in" cull cows, the North Otago Farmers' Union has called the attention of the auctioneers to this practice. At the meeting of the Union a letter was read from a farmer complaining that he had purchased cows at a clearing sale in the district. He had discovered that these were cull cows and had been " rung in " as part of the herd that wa s being sold- The farmer expressed the opinion that steps should be taken to put a stop to this practice. Several members said that the practice of " ringing in " was one that could not be too severely condemned. It was ultimately decided that the complaint of the farmer be brought und,er the notice of the auctioneers.
