PUKEATUA-ARAPUNI ROAD

"IN AN APPALLING STATE."

A meeting was held in the Pukeatua hall last evening to consider ways and means of dealing with the above road. There was a fair attendance, and many apologies for absence were received from interested, settlers who could not be present for various reasons. Mr C Crook was voted to the chaiy, and apologised for the absence of Mr W. McGee. the riding member, who unfortunately had a prior engagement.

A lengthy discussion then took place, the outstanding feature of which was the appalling state of the three miles of unmetalled road. It was finally decided that a deputation, consisting of Messrs Chook, Fergusson. and Tyndall, be appointed to confer with the riding member, the counity engineer, and Mr D. S. Reid, •M.P., to try to arrange an interview with the Prime Minister when he is in (Hamilton next week, and /endeavour to get a grant to complete the. metalling.
