TO 'BE REMOVED
' There was iust a tinge of feeling 'n a discussion at the Borough Council meeting last evening. When the engineer's report on tn. methods of checking "road hogs " on Kihik-ihi Road was read., discussion arose as to the rights of local bodies to place obstacles on the roadway Cr McGecl'iie wanted the matter le.t ro the works committee and the engineer for attention. - Cr Montefiore wanted the stones removed at once. . , Cr Vile supported Cr McGechie, and, Cr Jeffery supported Cr Montefiore._ Cr McGechie said it was a striking commentary that the full body of councillors, elected by the ratepayers could not determine a small matter like the one under review without running to the borough solicitor. If they could not they were not fit to continue in ° \fter some further debate a motion in*favour of removing the spawls at once was carried by five votes to four.
