OBITUARY
MRS. J. M. WYNYARD.
The death occurred in Auckland a few days ago of Mrs J. M. Wynyard, mother of Mr J. G. Wynyard of Te Awamutu. Deceased, who was 84 years of age, was born in South Africa and came to New Zealand with her parents, Major and Mrs J, M. England, in her teens. In 1864 she married Robert youngest son of Major-General R.. H. Wynyard, C.R., of the 58th Regiment, who commanded the New Zealand Forces from 1845 to 1858, and who was acting-Governor for three of those Years, until the arrival of Colonel Gore Brown. The late Mrs Wynyard though of a retiring disposition, was a woman of very wide interests. With the exception of one trip to the Old Country in 1901-2, she had resided 60 years in New Zealand, the whole period of which was spent in the Auckland province. Charitably disposed to all, and of a warm-hearted nature, sin -was w r ell beloved by a large circle of friends. She leaves behind a fami v of four, which comprises Messrs R. H. and M. H, Wynyard of Auckland, J. G. Wynyard of Te Awamutu r . and one daughter, Miss Wynyard.
