A peculiar accident occurred to a large Car owned by Mr C. Whittingham while' being towed into Napier (states the “Tribune”). On arriving at the last bridge on the T'aradale *oad the slowing down of the hauling car gave considerable slack to ,tlie tow-rope, and this not being noticed by Mr Whittingham, caused the rope to get tangled up with his car to such an extent that the car was capsized, and finally lodged in the river. The leading car did not leave the bridge, and Mr Wliittingham, who got a ducking, escaped with a few abrasions.
